“I have received great reaction,” she said. “People are so happy that there is a shop so close to the fairgrounds. The demand for the merchandise is increasing as new barns and both indoor and outdoor rings are on the rise”, she said.
Albertson, who had already had a successful floral business which she ran from home, loves retail and the equine industry. The shop, she said, is “kind of throw-back, an old-fashioned specialty shop. I’m able to use creativity in display and organizational skills on the business end.”
Special events at the shoppe include “trunk shows,” (contact us now to reserve your spring 2007 appointment) with exclusive use of the facilities for the evening by a trainer and his/her students; and a “Night at the Tack Shop,” with hors d’oeuvres and special discounts. Future shows are planned for the spring 2007 show season.

Albertson wants the store to be customer friendly, especially to mothers new to riding who may feel as intimated as she did on her first visit to a tack shoppe.
“Lots of mothers come in not knowing the difference between a bridle and a halter,” she said. “I feel my purpose is to guide, educate and make them feel comfortable with this unique passion their daughters have. I want them to understand that I once was one of those mothers.”
She is also asking horse farms, boarding stables and trainers to leave fact sheets on their facilities with her to add to a binder in the store that will be available to anyone coming in seeking information.
The staff at Withers Living encourages both the dedicated enthusiast and “fieldwear / adirondack loving” nonrider to visit the store and peruse the extensive variety of fashions, home furnishings and gifts.
